2024-2025: Dan spent the fall of 2024 prepping for an explosive indoor season that catapulted his name into both the CWU and GNAC record books. His conference silver medal performance of 17.96 M in the Weight Throw made him #5 All-Time at CWU and #10 All-Time in the GNAC. He also found a personal best in the shot put of 14.80 M at the Nevada Invitational and Multis. He brough home an 8th place finish in the event at the GNAC Indoor Championship meet. Dan red-shirted the 2025 outdoor season.
Background: Dan Close joins the Wildcats roster as a transfer from Spokane Falls Community College. At Spokane, Dan was the 2023 NWAC Champion in the discus, placing 3rd in 2024. Dan was also 4th in 2024 and 5th in 2023 in the shot put and 4th in the hammer in 2023 at the NWAC Championships. Originally from Spokane, Washington, Dan is a graduate of Lewis and Clark High School where he played football and competed for the track and field team in the javelin. He was all league in both sports.
