Vang is in his first season with CWU.
He joined the Wildcat staff in February, 2026.
Vang joins the 'Cats after serving as the edge rushers coach at Sacramento State for the 2025 season, helping the Hornets to a 7-5 record including going 5-3 in Big Sky play. Under Vang's leadership the Hornets led the Big Sky Conference with 38 sacks for a total loss of 253 yards and added 85 tackles for loss for a total of 361 yards. The Hornets saw three defensive linemen earn All-Big Sky Conference honors, with DeSean Watts landing on the First Team and Dylan Hampsten and Jayland McGlothen both named to the Second Team.

Prior to his time with the Hornets, Vang spent a season as a Defensive Analyst at Colorado State under then Head Coach jay Norvell. He began his tenure with CSU as a Defensive Quality Control coach before being elevated to the Defensive Analyst position. Prior to joining CSU, Vang spent two seasons at Michigan State as a Defensive Intern. Before landing in East Lansing with MSU, he worked for seven years with his alma mater Kansas State, first as a Student Assistant, then as a Defensive Graduate Assistant.
Vang earned his bachelor's in mechanical engineering from Kansas State in 2017 with a minor in leadership studies.
