Ju'Wan Murphy

Ju'Wan Murphy is in his second season with the Wildcat Football Team. 

Murphy came to CWU after being the Cornerbacks Graduate Assistant for the Peacocks of Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa. During Murphy's tenure with the Peacocks they saw their win total increase by two in the midst of changing conferences to the Great Lakes Valley Conference. 

Prior to joining the Peacocks, Murphy played cornerback for the Chadron State Eagles in Chadron, Neb. from the 2019 season through the 2021 season while he pursued and earned a Master's in Sports Management. He played in 16 games recording 41 tackles, one tackle for loss, one interception, four deflected passes, and two fumble recoveries while adding four punt returns for 29 yards, three kick returns for 51 yards, and one reception for eight yards. 

Prior to joining the Eagles, Murphy earned his Bachelor's in Journalism from former CWU rival the Humboldt State Lumberjacks (now Cal Poly Humboldt) and played cornerback from the 2015 season through the 2018 season when they discontinued their football program. While with the Jacks, Murphy played in 26 games recording 46 tackles, one tackle for loss, three interceptions, nine passes deflected, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick and also returned 16 punts for 86 yards and eight kick returns for 240 yards including a returned touchdown. 

Murphy hails from West Fresno, Calif. and had his coaching start from his alma mater Edison High School. With EHS he worked with the varsity, junior varsity, and freshmen teams to ensure that ethics and teamwork were properly implemented.
