Sam Bowman

Bowman is in her first season with the CWU Women's Basketball Team. 

Bowman was announced as an Assistant Coach for the CWU Women's Basketball Team on May 15, 2026. 

Before her tenure coaching the WBB team, Bowman spent one season as the Assistant Coach for the CWU Women's Soccer Team. While with the CWU Women's Soccer Team, she helped guide them to their highest win total since the 2021 season. She played a key role in guiding the goalkeepers who led the conference in saves and were second in the conference in save percentage and posted five shutouts. She played a critical role in the development of three Honorable Mention All-GNAC honorees in Annelise Bauman, Casey Park, and Jaylee Reynolds. 

Bowman has been playing professional women's basketball in Australia with the NBL1. She's been playing in the NBL1 for four seasons, spending the 2026 season with the Casey Cavaliers after spending one season with the Townsville Flames and starting out her NBL1 career with the Rockhampton Cyclones who she spent two seasons with. During the 2026 season she has averaged 16.15 points per game, 13.05 rebounds per game, 2.9 assists per game, 1.1 blocks per game, and 1.35 steals per game while shooting 52.29% from the floor and 74% from the free-throw line. 

Prior to her professional career down under, Bowman was a standout on the Central Washington University Women's Basketball Team from 2018 through 2023. She was named the 2023 D2CCA Ron Lenz National Player of the Year, the D2CCA West Region Player of the Year, and the GNAC Player of the Year her senior season as well as being a First Team All-American for the WBCA, World Exposure Report, and the D2CCA. She also was a two-time unanimous First Team All-GNAC honoree and earned the 2022 GNAC Tournament MVP after helping guide the 'Cats to their first GNAC Championship in the 2022 GNAC Tournament. She is the CWU record holder for career rebounds, totaling 1,219 rebounds, good for 10.2 rebounds a game. She finished her career with 1,632 career points for an average of 13.6 per game. She averaged two assists per game for a total of 242 while adding 167 career blocks and 129 career steals. She finished her career shooting 54.1% from the floor, 31.6% from three, and 72.2% from the free-throw line in 120 played games with 78 starts. 

Bowman, a Zillah, Wash. native, graduated from CWU in 2023 with a degree in Nutrition.
