Senior Kodiak Landis recorded a school-record performance for the men's track and field team at the EWU Candy Cane Open, breaking his own pole vault school record by two inches to claim the GNAC men's field athlete of the week award. He won the men's heptathlon in dominating fashion after accumulating a total of 5,220 points. Landis placed first in the 55-meter (6.54 seconds), long jump (22 feet, 4.5 inches), shot put (38 feet, 7.75 inches) and the pole vault (15 feet, 11 inches) to record a provisional qualifying mark.
