Cordova joined the Wildcats in 2018 after spending the previous season as the defensive coordinator at Eastern New Mexico.
In 2017 Cordova and the Greyhounds went 8-2 including 6-2 in the Lone Star Conference, its first eight-win season since 2002. Their only two losses came to eventual national champion Texas A&M Commerce and national tournament qualifier Midwestern State who was the only school to defeat Commerce a year ago.
Cordova's 2017 defense set school records for lowest opponent rushing yards (808), and fewest rushing touchdowns allowed (12).
Prior to Eastern New Mexico, Cordova spent two seasons with the University of New Mexico as a defensive assistant after spending four seasons at New Mexico Highlands including three seasons as the defensive coordinator where he produced three all-Americans.
Cordova also served as a graduate assistant defensive line coach at UNLV after a stint as defensive coordinator at Vista Del Lago High School in Moreno Valley, Calif.
Cordova graduated from Cal State San Bernardino in 2009 with a Bachelor's Degree in history. He also pursued Master's Degrees at UNLV and UNM in sports administration.
