Former Wildcat Mike Reilly Claimed off Waivers by Seahawks

CWU Alum Joins Fourth NFL Organization in Last 13 Months

Former Wildcat Mike Reilly was claimed off waivers by the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday.
SEATTLE (May 4) -- Former Central Washington University quarterback Mike Reilly is on the move again, this time returning to his roots in the Pacific Northwest as he was claimed off waivers by the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday.

Reilly, who set virtually every passing record in CWU history during his days with the Wildcats from 2005-08, joins his fourth National Football League organization since April 2009. He was most recently with the St. Louis Rams, with whom he spent the final four games of the 2009 season.

Reilly's NFL tour thus far has included stops in Pittsburgh, Green Bay, St. Louis, and now Seattle. He signed as a free agent with the Steelers immediately after the 2009 NFL draft and was with the Black and Gold through the preseason. After being cut at the end of the preseason, he was signed onto the Green Bay practice squad in early November, and after two weeks with the Packers before joining the Rams in late November, where he was on the Rams' 53-man roster and was their third-string signal-caller.

Playing in Seattle and at Qwest Field is something with which Reilly is very familiar. During his CWU career, he started four games at the Seahawks' home venue during Battle in Seattle games against Western Washington University, completing 70.7 percent of his passes in the stadium for 1,051 yards and 10 touchdowns.

In joining the Seahawks, Reilly is one of four quarterbacks on the team's active roster. Also currently listed as signal-callers for Seattle are NFL veteran Matt Hasselbeck, fifth-year pro Charlie Whitehurst, and second-year Seahawk Matt Teel. After Hasselbeck, who will begin his 10th season with the organization in 2010, the other three quarterbacks have a combined two games of regular-season NFL experience.
