Meet Results

PULLMAN (Jan. 15) -- Central Washington University sophomores Katharine Lotze (Benton City/Kiona-Benton HS) and Brandon Roddewig (Fall City/Mount Si HS) both earned first-place finishes in field events, highlighting the Wildcats' debut to the 2011 indoor track and field season at the WSU Open in Pullman on Saturday.

Lotze was victorious in the triple jump with a mark of 36 feet, 1 1/2 inches. She also competed in the 60-meter dash but did not advance to the finals in the event.

Roddewig, meanwhile, was the lone competitor to clear 6 feet, 7 inches in the men's high jump to win that event. Like Lotze, Roddewig also competed in the sprint races, but did not advance to the finals in either the 60-meter dash or the 60-meter hurdles.

Central's top events on Saturday were the women's 200-meter dash and the women's shot put, where they had four placers among the top seven and eight, respectively. Three freshmen -- Seanna Pitassi (Camas), Alexis Ramos (Shoreline/Shorecrest HS), and Chelsea Genther (Burlington/Burlington-Edison HS) -- keyed the Wildcats' pack in the 200, finishing third, fifth, and sixth, respectively, while sophomore Sarah Takayoshi (Vancouver/Union HS) was seventh.

In the women's shot put, senior Torrie Self (Kent/Kent-Meridian HS) led the Wildcats' charge with a fourth-place finish, while Jordan Stueckle (Selah), Kaylee Baumstark (Port Angeles), and Shaina Afoa (Anchorage, Alaska/A.J. Dimond HS) were sixth through eighth, respectively, in the event.
