ELLENSBURG (Feb. 16) -- Sophomore Lacy Haddock (Las Vegas, Nev./Sierra Vista HS) filled up the stat sheet with 26 points, seven rebounds and six assists as the Central Washington University men's basketball team sank 11 second-half three pointers in a 92-79 victory over Simon Fraser University Friday evening at Nicholson Pavilion.

The Wildcats improved to 12-11 on the season and 6-9 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play to take sole position of sixth place in the conference. Simon Fraser fell to 8-15 and 3-12 in the GNAC.

Haddock was 11 of 15 from the field and 4 of 7 from behind the arc, and has now scored 14 or more points in nine straight contests.

Central Washington led by as many as nine points in the opening period before a six-minute scoring drought allowed the visiting Clan take a one-point advantage with 3:11 left in the half.  Haddock ended the half scoring a jumper in the paint and throwing down a one-handed dunk with three seconds remaining in the first half to give the Wildcats a three-point (28-25) halftime lead.

CWU scored the first seven points of the second half, building a 10-point advantage less than two minutes into the period. The Wildcats led by as many as 17 points in the second half and led by double digits for the final 7:48 of the contest.

Central Washington's offense was prolific in the second half, shooting 61.5 percent from the field (24 of 39), making 11 of 16 three-pointers and outscoring Simon Fraser 64-54 in the final stanza, more than doubling its first-half output. Junior Jordan Coby (Tacoma/Wilson HS) connected on 3 of 4 second-half treys and Haddock made 4 of 5 threes after halftime.

Coby and fellow junior Brandon Magee (Spanaway/Bethel HS) scored 15 points apiece, with Magee adding five rebounds off the bench. Senior Jody Johnson (Seattle/Franklin HS) struggled from the field, making just 3 of 12 shots, but secured his seventh double-double of the season by scoring 10 points and grabbing a game-high 15 rebounds, of which nine were of the offensive variety.

The Wildcats owned the paint, outscoring Simon Fraser 50-30 under the basket, and had a 39-28 advantage in rebounds.

Simon Fraser, which only used seven players in the game, had all five of its starters score in double figures. Justin Brown scored 24 points, of which 13 came from the free throw line. John Bantock, Jordan Sergent, and Conner Lewis each added 14 points for the Clan.

Central Washington will close out the home portion of its schedule on Saturday (Feb. 18), facing archrival Western Washington at 7 p.m. for Senior Night. In addition, the first 1,000 Wildcat fans through the gates will receive a complimentary t-shirt courtesy of Shirtworks and the Palace Cafe.
