Meet Results

MOSCOW, Idaho (Jan. 19) -- Four competitors from Central Washington University finished the first full team meet of the 2013 indoor track and field season as event champions on Saturday at the Idaho Collegiate meet on the University of Idaho campus.

Freshman Jayna Inderbitzen (Graham/Cascade Christian HS) won the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.98, leading a trio of Wildcats among the top six in the event, while senior Kelsey Kreft (Lake Stevens) took first in the women's 5,000 meters and field event competitors Becki Duhamel (Wenatchee) and Lewis Meyers (Carson/Stevenson HS) won the women's weight throw and men's high jump, respectively. In addition, the Wildcats' women's 4x400-meter relay team brought home first place.

Duhamel's win in the weight throw, which came with a mark of 16.45 meters (53 feet, 11 3/4 inches), was an improvement of 48 centimeters (19 inches) from her debut at the UW Indoor Preview on Jan. 12. It also enabled her to move into third on the Great Northwest Athletic Conference all-time list in the event.

Inderbitzen and Kreft both took home first-place finishes in their respective running events. Inderbitzen, Seanna Pitassi (Camas), and Dakota Forgey (Camas) finished first, third, and sixth, respectively, in the 400 meters. Kreft, meanwhile, ran away with the women's 5,000 meters in a time of 18:43.70.

Chelsea Genther (Bow/Burlington-Edison HS) was the Wildcats' top finisher in both individual events she competed -- the 60-meter dash (8.40) and the 60-meter hurdles (9.72) -- as was Duhamel, who also posted a team-best mark of 12.96 meters (42 feet, 6 1/4 inches) in the shot put.

Pole vaulter Jamie Larsen (Kent/Kentwood HS) tied for the best mark in her event, clearing 3.45 meters (11 feet, 3 3/4 inches), but finished second on account of fewest misses.

The CWU women's 4x400-meter relay team also won its event, posting a time of 4:14.18 seconds.

For the Wildcat men, freshman Kent McKinney (Seattle/O'Dea HS) led a trio of competitors in the 60-meter dash, and fellow sprinter Kyle Fremd (Kirkland/Bellevue Christian HS) was the top finisher for CWU in the 200- and 400-meter dashes.

Meyers' win in the high jump came after he cleared 1.95 meters (6 feet, 4 3/4 inches).

The throws trio of Eric Holmstrom (Mount Vernon), Quinton Agosta (Bainbridge Island/Bainbridge HS), and Mike Jensen (Tenino) also had strong performances in the shot put and weight throw, with Agosta and Jensen posting improved marks in the shot -- including a six-foot improvement by Jensen (to 14.92 meters/48 feet, 11 1/2 inches). Agosta upped his season's best in the weight throw by seven feet, tossing 16.62 meters (54 feet, 6 1/2 inches) on Saturday.

The next meet on the Wildcats' schedule is a partial-squad competition at the UW Invitational next Friday and Saturday (Jan. 25-26) in Seattle.
