Top 10 Moments of 2013-14: #10 Women's Soccer Returns to Postseason

ELLENSBURG, Wash (July 30)The 2013-14 sports season was historic on many levels, and as the 2014-15 season approaches we will be reminiscing upon the top 10 moments and accomplishments that occurred this past season.

Coming in at number 10 is the women's soccer team's return to the postseason.

For the first time since 1997, the soccer team competed in postseason action, participating in the 2013 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Tournament in Tukwila back in November.

The soccer team finished the final 11 games of the regular season as arguably the hottest team in the conference with an 8-2-1 record that included a six-game streak without a loss.

They ended the season with an 11-6-1 record, earning the second seed into the conference tournament where they faced off with Seattle Pacific for the third time.  Central Washington won both of the regular season contests by a score of 1-0, and took a 1-0 lead on a MEGHAN WARD goal in the 11th minute of the conference semi final.  But the Falcons scored two goals in the final 17 minutes of the contest, with the decisive goal coming with just under two minutes left in regulation.

DANIELLE BRANDLI, who was a first-team all-GNAC and Daktronics All-West Region selection, led the Wildcats.  The junior led the team in points with 19, scoring a team-high nine goals on just 42 shot attempts.

"We challenged the 2013 team to be the greatest team we've ever had, and they definitely met expectations. This was a foundational season for us and I am excited for what the future holds and our ability to compete well with the best teams in the conference." – Head Coach Michael Farrand
