Game Notes: Volleyball Back Home to Take on Alaska Schools

GAME NOTES

ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Sept 24) – The Central Washington University volleyball team returns home after playing seven consecutive games on the road, as they host The University of Alaska Fairbanks and Alaska Anchorage University this Thursday and Saturday.
 
The Wildcats went 5-2 in their last seven games that included the GNAC /PACWEST Crossover tournament followed by their first three conference games of the season.  After losing to 23rd ranked Northwest Nazarene the Wildcats have won two straight contests over Saint Martin's and Western Oregon to improve to 9-2 on the season and 2-1 in the GNAC.
 
On Thursday the Wildcats host Alaska Fairbanks at 7 P.M., a team they have defeated seven straight times and hold a 24-11 all-time record over.  The Nanooks are 0-12 on the season and 0-4 in conference play.
 
"We are excited to be back at home, and want to perform well in our conference home opener" CWU Head Coach Mario Andaya said, "Alaska brings one of the toughest hitters in the conference and young talent that we don't know a lot about.  We have to make sure to play our game and make adjustments to their scheme."
 
Saturday at 7 P.M. CWU faces off with conference leading UAA  who is 10-2 on the season and a perfect 4-0 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.  The Seawolves are have won four-straight games and seven of their last eight contests.  
 
"Anchorage is a very talented and physical team," Andaya mentioned about the Seawolves. "We have to match their physicality and take care of the ball in order to be successful."
