ELLENSBURG, Wash (Oct. 28) – The Central Washington University women's rugby team is set to host Oregon State University, Saturday (Oct. 31) when the Beavers come to town to play a Pacific Mountain Rugby Conference league game.
"This is a league match so winning is important for post season and regional rankings," Head coach
Mel Denham said.
The Wildcats are coming off an impressive weekend which saw Central Washington defeat regional power house Brigham Young University by a score of 40-17 in a hard fought game, and a 119-0 win against Western Washington University.
"Our challenge will be playing our standard of rugby at a high pace for 80 minutes," Denham added. "Regardless of the score."
Mele Halahuni has been leading the attack of late. The fullback scored three trys in Saturday's matchup against the Cougars.
Cassidy Meyers continues her strong play as well. She accounted for two trys versus BYU.
"This weekend we will be integrating more of the younger players into the match as we continue to develop depth in the roster," Denham said.
The match will be ticketed and kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
