SEATTLE, Wash. (Nov. 20) -- The Central Washington University men's basketball team defeated Hawaii Hilo 100-87 to claim its second win off the 2015-16 season at Brougham Pavilion on the campus of Seattle Pacific University.

The Wildcats improve to 2-0 on the season while the Vulcans fall to 0-2.

Five Wildcats scored in double-figures for the Wildcats led by
Gary Jacobs who scored a game-high 23 points.Â
Joey Roppo and
Joseph Stroud each added 18 points, while
Naim Ladd and
Devin Matthews scored 16 and 15 respectively.

Naim Ladd scored 14 of his points in the second half, in place of Jacobs who was on the bench due to foul trouble.

The Wildcats built a 9-5 lead five minutes into the contest led by a layup by Matthews and a thundering slam by Stroud. The Vulcans rallied to take a 23-17 lead at the 8:14 mark in the contest.

Stroud was the Wildcats most affective scorer in the first half and cut the Hawaii Hilo to just two points on back-to-back baskets including his third dunk of the half.

Joey ended the half in dynamic fashion for CWU, draining three-straight three pointers to give CWU a 47-40 halftime lead.

Roppo made four treys in the opening period and led the Wildcats with 14 points. Both teams shot fairly well in the opening stanza with CWU holding a slight edge with a 48.6-percent mark while the Vulcans shot 46.7.

Jacobs opens the second half with consecutive baskets for CWU one of which a three pointer as the Wildcats built a 10-point lead.

By the 15:33 mark in the second half the Wildcats held a healthy 60-44 lead. The game heated up quite a bit and after a technical foul called on each team the Wildcats held a 69-58 lead after a set of makes from the charity stripe by
Naim Ladd.

Hawaii Hilo continued to struggle with finding a stop for Stroud who caught a layup alley oop from
Chris-Michael Garret and after getting fouled on the play he made the ensuing free throw.

The halves third technical foul was called on Vulcans' head coach G.E. Coleman and CWU held a 75-58 lead with 10:30 left after Ladd made both of the free throws.

The Wildcats led by as many as 24 points in the second half ending with the final
