ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Dec. 2) – The Central Washington University men's basketball team will take its unblemished 4-0 record on the road to Alaska where they face off with Alaska Anchorage (Dec. 3) and Alaska (Dec. 5).

The Wildcats are off to their best start since the 2010-11 campaign that earned them the top seed in the NCAA Division II West Regional tournament.

Both Alaska schools will give the Wildcats a tough test to tip off Great Northwest Athletic Conference play as Anchorage brings a 6-4 record and Alaska stands at 4-2.

Anchorage features one of the nations top scorers in Sekou Wiggs who is averaging 24.3 points per game and shooting 46.6-percent from the field.  The Seawolves started the season 6-2 before losing their last two games to Cal State Dominguez hills and NCAA Division I opponents San Jose State.

"Anchorage is a good team with a very talented scorer," CWU Head Coach Greg Sparling said.  "Wiggs can score and do so in bunches, we have to make sure to limit is impact on the game."

Alaska started the season 4-0 and have also dropped their last two games to PacWest Conference participants Dixie State and Dominican University.  Like the Wildcats the Nanooks run an up-tempo offense and have eclipsed 90 points three times.

"Alaska is a dangerous school and have the potential to score a lot of points," Sparling noted.  "We will need to focus on rebounding and limiting transition, two things Alaska does very well."

The Wildcats enter this week with the second-best scoring offense in the country at 102.0 points per game and rank second in field goal percentage at 54.2.

Gary Jacobs and Joseph Stroud who are averaging 20.0 and 18.0 points per game, respectively, have powered the offense.  However, the Wildcats have five players averaging double-figures including Devin Matthews (15.3), Joey Roppo (14.8), and Naim Ladd (11.5).

Central Washington has been extremely potent from long range connecting on 44.7 percent of its three-point attempts which ranks 10th nationally.  A total of eight Wildcats are shooting over 35.0-percent from behind the arc, led by Roppo who has made 14 of his 26 attempts so far this season.

The game time for tomorrow's matchup with Anchorage has been moved to 9 p.m. PDT due to the NCAA Division II Regional volleyball tournament held at the same site.
