BURNABY, British Columbia (Feb. 5) -- The defensive minded Central Washington University women's basketball team traveled to Canada Thursday night where they ran into a hot shooting Simon Fraser team that defeated the Wildcats 84-50.

The Wildcats (11-9, 6-6 GNAC) came into the contest ranked second in points allowed per game but the Clan converted on over half their shots of the game including a 68.2 shooting percentage from behind the arc making 15-of-22 shots from three.

In comparison the Wildcats shot just 36.7-percent from the field.Â
Jasmine Parker led the Wildcats with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting and
Erika Locker followed with nine.

The loss moved Simon Fraser (11-9, 7-5 GNAC) one game ahead of the Wildcats in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference standings with the teams coming into to the game tied for fourth place.

Both teams came out firing in the first half with the Wildcats making four of its first nine shots from the field. Unfortunately, the Clan was a bit more efficient from the field making 7-of-12 to start the game building a 16-10 lead over the Wildcats at the 11:49 mark in the period.

The Clan went on a 8-3 run to open up a 24-13 lead over the Wildcats in the opening stanza, and finished the half with a comfortable 40-25 lead over.

The usually staunch defense of the Wildcats was outplayed by the Clan in the second half as SFU  built a 22-point lead with just over 11 minutes left in the contest. Simon Fraser continued its offensive onslaught leading by as many as 35 points in the second half en route to their final 84-50 advantage.

Erin Chambers, the nation's leading scorer, scored a game high 25 points and added six assists. Also scoring in double figures for the Clan were Katie Lowen and Meg Wilson who each added 13.

The Wildcats will look to get back on the winning track when they travel to Bellingham to faceoff with archrival Western Washington this Saturday at 7 p.m.
