KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (March. 28) – The Central Washington University baseball team fell to the Oregon Institute of Technology dropping a single game matchup by a score of 14-8.
The Wildcats, who have lost five of their last six games, stumble into a 12-15 overall record but will look to rebound when the team travels to Alameda, Cali., for a four-game series versus Holy Names University.
Central Washington fell behind the Owls early when their leadoff hitter hit a homerun to lead off the bottom of the first inning off starting pitcher
Jacob Forrester.
The Wildcats tied the ball game up in the top of the third inning when
Kasey Bielec delivered
Darren Honeysett to the plate on an RBI-single. Bielec would go 2-for-4 in the game with and finish with three RBIs.
With Central Washington down a run heading into the top of the fourth, the Wildcats pushed four runs across to give the team a 5-2 lead.
Jeff Beckman reached base safely on an Owl error and stole second base. Beckman would come around to score on a
Randy Fuller double to leftfield, and
Myles Wesener put the exclamation point on the big inning with a two-run homerun.
Wesner finished game one going 3-for-4, driving in two runs and scoring two runs.
Two big innings by the Owls put the game out of reach for the Wildcats as the home team used a five-run sixth inning and a seven-run eighth to secure the win.
The Wildcats used six different pitchers who combined to allow 10 earned runs over the nine-inning game.
First pitch for game one versus Holy Names University is set for 11 a.m.
