PALO ALTO, Cali. (March. 28) – The Central Washington University women's rugby team earned an opening-round win in the Pacific Mountain Conference playoffs defeating California State University Chico by a score of 101-0.
The Wildcats will play a Sunday (March. 29) match versus University of California Davis beginning at 1:30 p.m.
"We played together as a team," Head coach
Mel Denham said of her team's impressive victory. "We're able to read the field and capitalize on attacking opportunities and that was our main goal today."
Angela Ve'evalu got the game started with an early try as
Suliana Tausinga followed suit to make the game 14-0 early in the first half. Ve'evalu would score later in the half for her second try and was again followed by
Cassidy Meyers who scored her second try of the game to make the score 40-0.
The Wildcats would use the strength of eight trys in the first half as the team went into halftime with a 54-0 lead.
The points kept rolling in throughout the game. The Wildcats would find the try zone seven more times in the second half as
Katerina Long converted 12 two-point conversions on the day.

Katerina Long stepped up as a leader and her foot was on," Denham said. "
Suliana Tausinga was a force in the forwards today, breaking the defense multiple times."
