ELLENSBURG, Wash. (March 5) — Nine Central Washington University indoor track and field competitors have been honored for their excellence. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced them today as among the 2014-15 All-West Region honorees.
 
"This is another distinction—and one we're happy to get—for out athletes," said CWU head track and field coach Kevin Adkisson.
 
Three Wildcats earned recognition in two events each: Becki Duhamel and Kevin Stanley, shot put and weight throw; and Tayler Fettig, high jump and pentathlon. They were joined by Kelly Cronic, triple Jump; Dani Eggleston, 5,000 meters; McKenna Emmert, pole vault; Kent McKinney Jr., 60 meters; Luke Plummer, triple jump; and Armando Tafoya, weight throw.
 
All-region distinction went to the top five individuals in each event from each of the NCAA Division II eight regions nationwide.
 
"It shows that our athletes have reached and can compete at the high end of the West Region," Adkisson added.
 
Overall, 519 women and 547 men earned All-Region honors across the country. The Great Northwest Athletic Conference had a total of 75 honorees.
 
Two of the CWU selections, Fettig, in the high jump; and Plummer, in his specialty; will next compete at the NCAA Division II National Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by the University of Alabama in Huntsville and Birmingham CrossPlex, March 13-14 in Birmingham, Ala.
 
As they enter the title competition, Plummer is tied for 10th nationally in the triple jump (49-5), was while Fettig (5-8) is tied—with five others—for the country's 12th best high jump mark. Fettig and Plummer are looking to finish among the top eight at nationals, so they can earn prestigious All-America honors to add to their All-Region picks.
