Wildcat Baseball Claws Their Way to Split with MSUB

BILLINGS, Mont. (April 10) – Central Washington University outfielder Garrett Terrell hit an RBI double in extra innings to lift the Wildcats to a 5-4 victory over Montana State Billings in game two Friday afternoon at Dehler Park.  In the opener the Wildcats let a 6-0 lead slip away losing 8-11.

Game Two: 5-4 extra innings win

Central Washington again jumped out to an early lead on a RBI single by Randy Fuller in the first inning.  The Yellowjackets quickly responded with a run of their own to tie the game at 1-1.

Two innings later Jonathan Dailey singled home Kasey Bielec to regain the lead, however, MSUB scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to move ahead 3-2.

Dailey continued his hot hitting in the sixth inning doubling home Bielec who reached base on a single.  Jeff Beckman followed with a single to centerfield plating Fuller.

Myles Wesener helped secure the 4-3 Wildcat advantage robbing MSUB catcher Conner Holbrook of a leadoff double with a diving catch on the warning track in the bottom of the sixth inning.  The diving catch became of bigger significant when the next batter hit a double to right field that would have scored Holbrook.

Central Washington starting pitcher Zach Johnson was looking for the complete game victory with a 4-3 lead in the seventh and final inning.  Johnson struck out the first hitter, but Luke Reinschmidt followed with a solo homerun to left centerfield to tie the game up and force extra innings.

In the eighth inning Dunbar singled and Terrell followed with a double, plating Benjamin Dunbar to give the Wildcats a 5-4 lead heading into the bottom half of the inning.

Dailey came in in relief and shut the door on the Yellowjackets picking up his second win of the season (2-1), allowing just one base runner before retiring the side.
