ELLENSBURG, Wash (April. 3) – The Central Washington University baseball team lost the first two games of a four-game series versus Western Oregon University Friday afternoon, dropping game one by a score of 3-2, and game two 10-0.
The two losses leave the Wildcats at 15-18 overall and 6-12 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, as the Wolves climb to 16-17 overall and 12-5 in league play.
Game One – CWU 2 WOU 3 Western Oregon struck first in the opening frame on the only Wildcat error of the game. But the Wildcats would answer back in the bottom of the second and third inning.
Randy Fuller would lead of the second inning with a groundball single, deep in the six-hole to give the Wildcats plenty of options with a runner on first and no outs. After a
Jonathan Dailey sacrifice bunt and another productive out from
Cory Welch, Fuller would score from third when
Jeff Beckman ripped a 1-2 pitch back up the middle for a two out-RBI that knotted the game at one apiece.
In the third inning,
Darren Honeysett would set the table with a lead off single and find himself on third base after another sacrifice bunt, this time from
Myles Wesener and a balk from the Wolves pitcher.
Kasey Bielec would single Honeysett home when he riffled a single into left field to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead.
The Wolves tied the ballgame in the top of the fifth on the second balk call of the game that allowed a runner on third to score, and with two outs in the top of the sixth the Wolves would scratch across the go-ahead run with an RBI-double.

Mitch Yada tossed five innings of four-hit baseball while striking out six batters.
Game Two – CWU 0 WOU 10 Starting pitcher Jesse Pratt of Western Oregon was masterful in the finale Friday afternoon. He held the Wildcats hitless for 6 1/3 innings before
Kasey Bielec singled in the bottom of the seventh inning. Pratt would retire the final two batters to complete the game and earn his sixth win of the season.

Zach Johnson worked 4 1/3 innings surrendering six runs, only two of which were earned and struck out three batters.
The Wildcats will look to rebound, Saturday, April. 4 when they will conclude the four-game set with WOU. First pitch is scheduled for Noon at the CWU Baseball Field.
