BURNABY, B.C. (Oct. 1) - The Central Washington University football team earned its second conference win, and third win overall, with a 55-6 victory over Simon Fraser University. Firing on all cylinders, the Wildcats recorded 442 yards of total offense and held the Clan to a mere 239.
 
Once again, the CWU defense paved the way, forcing three-and-outs on the Clan's first four possesions.  In total, the Wildcat defense forced nine three-and-outs in the game.
 
Simon fraser rushed the ball 31 times for an average of just 1.4 yards per carry as the Wildcats held SFU to just 91 yards of total offense in the first half.
 
Senior 
Justin Lane got Central's high-powered offense going early, connecting on his first attempt of the game to 
Christian Gasca for a 53-yard touchdown.
 
Big plays came in bunches for the Wildcats in the first quarter. After a three-and-out by the CWU defense, senior standout 
Jesse Zalk sliced his way through the Clan's punt coverage for a 56-yard touchdown.
 
The Wildcats closed out their impressive first quarter with a four-play 35-yard drive capped off by a 16-yard touchdown pass to Gasca, his second of the game.
 
Central's offense didn't miss a beat as they transitioned into the second quarter. With 10:34 on the clock, Lane tallied his third touchdown of the night to Zalk for 50 yards to extend CWU's lead to 27-0.
 
Jonathan Hillel relieved Lane at quarterback early in the second quarter, and continued the scoring frenzy, rushing nine yards for a score.
 
The Wildcats entered halftime leading the Clan 34-0.
 
Central dominated Simon Fraser in the first half, outgaining the clan 236 to 91 in total offense. The CWU stout defensive front held SFU to only 6 rushing yards on 14 attempts in the half.
 
The Wildcats opened their scoring in the second half when Hillel found 
Jordan Tufaga for a 56-yard touchdown of a wheel-route out the backfield.
 
Leading 41-0, Hillel bullied his way through the Simon Fraser defense from seven yards out to tally his second touchdown of the game. A successful point after touchdown (PAT) by 
Kyler Gracey extended CWU's lead to 48-0.
 
Hillel continued his stellar second-half performance when he connected with 
Justin Peterson in the end zone from eight yards away.
 
Lane finished 8 of 11, throwing for 177 yards and three touchdowns.
 
Hillel finished 10 of 14 for 181 yards and two touchdowns. He added two more touchdowns on the ground with seven attempts for 36 yards.
 
Zalk led all receivers with 4 catches for 89 yards and one touchdown. Gasca tallied two catches for 69 yards and two touchdowns.
 
The Wildcats combined for 442 total yards in the game.
 
Defensively, junior linebacker 
Kevin Haynes led Central with seven solo tackles, one sack and four tackles for loss. Fellow backer 
Blake Williams-Miller recorded two sacks and four tackles.
 
The Wildcats will return to the gridiron next Saturday (Oct. 8) at Humboldt State University in Arcata, Calif.
