ELLENSBURG, Wash.- The Central Washington University women's rugby team will play host to the Quinnipiac University Bobcats this coming Saturday when both teams square off in a 15's matchup. Action is set to kickoff at 11 a.m. PST at the Wildcat Rugby Pitch.

The Bobcats enters Saturday's match against Central as the defending varsity national champions. Quinnipiac holds a 5-0 record on the season and a winning streak of 11 dating back to last year. Most recently, the Bobcats captured a 77-7 road win over Brown lead by junior center Flora Poole's three tries.

"In terms of preparation, we agreed early in pre-season that the hardest competition we would face all year would be against ourselves," CWU head coach Mel Denham said. "The team has owned up to that, which means that our trainings have been under game-like pressure. I believe that in doing so, we are prepared to make decisions and execute skill against any opponent that we will face."

The Wildcats boast a 5-2 record and are coming off an impressive 57-29 win against American International College nearly two weeks ago. Highlighting Central's high-powered offensive attack is true freshman Suiluana A'au. Against the Yellow Jackets, A'au led all Wildcats with three tries and has tallied 11 tries over the span of three games for the Wildcats.

Saturday's matchup against Quinnipiac will be a rematch of last season's thriller that saw the Wildcats secure a 33-17 win. Central is the last team to defeat the Bobcats last fall.

"The expectation is that this will be a challenging match, which is what we want," Denham said. "Our goal is to be the best team that we can be, and there is no better way to test that than by being challenged."
