ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Nov. 12) – Central Washington University quarterback made the most out of senior day, by throwing for a CWU school record of 469 yards as the football team defeated Humboldt State 37-30 Saturday afternoon at Tomlinson Stadium.
The Wildcats end the 2016 season with a 7-3 record, with a 6-2 mark in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. The 7-3 record is the Wildcats best mark since the 2010 season. Humboldt State, who was the preseason favorite to win the GNAC, ends its season with a 6-5 record, 3-5 in GNAC play.
Lane completed 28 of 36 passes for 469 yards and three touchdowns, with a long of 62 yards. His passing performance pushed him past CWU alum and Eastern Washington Head Football Coach Beau Baldwin who held the previous record of 467 yards for over 25 years.
Justin Peterson hauled in a large chunk of those yards taking six catches for 148 yards.
Jesse Zalk followed up his record setting performance last week with five catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns. Lane's third touchdown went to
Nate Rauda who caught six balls for 87 yards.
On the defensive side of the ball,
Kevin Haynes and
Sean Elledge both recorded 17 tackles in the game, with Haynes collecting 3.5 tackles for loss and half a sack.
Senior
Max McIntosh cleared double digits in tackles with 10, including half a sack and a game ending interception in the end zone as HSU was near the CWU goal line with hopes of tying the game at 37.
The Wildcats held a slight edge in overall offense, gaining 554 yards while the Lumberjacks put up 524. HSU quarterback Robert Webber also had an outstanding day, throwing for 482 yards, and three touchdowns. The Lumberjacks possessed the ball for over 33 minutes and earned 34 first downs.

Justin Peterson had a season high of 148 receiving yards, just three off his career best of 151.
Nate Rauda also set a new career high in receiving with 87 yards.
Tyler Stumph gained 41 yards on two catches, setting a new career high in receiving yards.
The 17 tackles by both Elledge and Haynes set new career highs. Both marks are second-most in school history for a single game.
Haynes now had 281 tackles in his career, ranking 5
th all-time. His 109 tackles on the year ranks 10
th most in a single season.
Lane finished 2016 with the second highest efficiency rating in for a single season at 169.0
