Women's Basketball Hosts 2016 Wildcat Thanksgiving Classic

ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Nov. 23) – The Central Washington University women's basketball team is set the 2016 Wildcat Thanksgiving Classic from Friday (Nov. 25) and Saturday (Nov. 26).
 
The Wildcats take on California State San Bernardino on Friday, before playing Hawaii Pacific on Saturday.  Northwest Nazarene University, the tournament's final team, play Hawaii Pacific Friday, then San Bernardino.
 
San Bernardino enters the week 1-1, after a win against Concordia University (Calif.) and a loss against California Baptist.
 
Mya Johnson leads the Coyotes in scoring, averaging 16.5 points per game.  She averages nearly a double-double per game, pulling in nine rebounds a game. 
 
The Coyotes are averaging 71 points per game, while allowing 75.  San Bernardino has shot 41.2 percent from the floor.  Opponents are shooting at a clip of 45.1, including shooting 34 percent from beyond the arc, against the Coyotes.
 
Hawaii Pacific enters the week 0-2, with losses to Missouri Western and Cal State Dominguez Hills. 
 
Breanna Mackenzie leads the offense for the Sharks.  She is averaging 15.5 points per game.  Aminata Cole leads the rebounding efforts, pulling in 6.5 rebounds per game. 
 
The Sharks are being outrebounded 41-39 per game.  They are also being outscored 76-71.  Hawaii Pacific is shooting 39.5 percent on the season, while opponents are converting at 42.5 percent.
 
Northwest Nazarene is 2-0 on the season with a pair of wins over Westminster College and the College of Idaho.
 
Kate Cryderman leads the Crusaders in scoring, averaging 14 points per game.  McKenna Walker trails behind averaging 13.5 points per game.  Danielle Jardine leads in rebounding, pulling in six boards per game. 
 
The Crusaders are averaging 91.5 points per game, while opponents are scoring only 81.5 points per game.  Northwest Nazarene has converted on 54 percent of its shots from the floor, including 42.9 percent from beyond the arc.  The Crusaders have held their opponents to a shooting percentage of 47.6 percent.
 
The Wildcats offense is led by Taylor Baird, who is currently averaging 13.2 points per game.  Baird is also averaging a team high 8.8 rebounds per game.  Jasmin Edwards is averaging 9.2 points, 5.4 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game.
 
Central Washington has held opponents to 44 points per game and a shooting percentage of just 29.5.  The Wildcats are taking advantage of opportunities at the free throw line, converting on 71.6 percent of their shots. 
 
Action kicks off on Friday at 2 p.m. when NNU takes on Hawaii Pacific.  The Wildcats play San Bernardino at 4:30 p.m.  Saturday's contests get underway at 1 p.m. as the Crusaders take on San Bernardino.  Central Washington plays Hawaii Pacific at 3:30 p.m.
