PORTLAND, Ore.- Senior guard
Dom Hunter recorded his first double-double of the season and the Central Washington University men's basketball team used a 20-3 first half run to beat Concordia University (Ore.) 80-73 Saturday afternoon.

Hunter scored 18 points and hauled in 10 rebounds to go with three assists. Junior forward
Sage Woodruff recorded a career-high 14 points and nine rebounds and
Jawan Stepney added 12 points to help the Wildcats (7-3, 2-2 GNAC) bounce back from their 98-77 loss to Western Oregon University earlier this week.

Battling down low for Central Washington was junior center
Fuquan Niles. Niles tallied 11 points on five-of-eight shooting and added seven rebounds.

Concordia scored the first five points of the contest and led by as many as 13 (27-14). Trailing 20-31, the Wildcats closed out the first half on a 20-3 run to enter halftime with a six-point lead (40-34). Woodruff led all scorers in the first half with 12 points (5-8) including two shots from beyond the arch. The Wildcat defense held Concordia to just one made three-pointer in the half (1-10) and forced 10 turnovers. CWU made 40.5% of their shots from the field (15-37) and were 5-of-13 from three-point range.

Central's momentum carried over into the second half as their lead expanded to 12 (59-47) midway through the half. The Cavaliers fought back within three (75-72), but five free throws down the stretch by Hunter and
Terry Dawn helped Central regain a seven-point advantage and earn the victory, 80-73.

Drew Martin led the Cavaliers (6-5, 2-2 GNAC) with a game-high 19 points, while Christopher Edward chipped in 14 points. Concordia managed just 17.6 percent (3-17) shooting from three-point range in the contest.

The Wildcats will return to the friendly confines of Nicholson Pavilion to play Northwest Nazarene University on Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m.
