Ten Game 2016 Football Season Opens at Portland State

ELLENSBURG, Wash. (May 26) – The Central Washington University football team will play 10 games in 2016 with five home contests.
 
They open the season on Sept. 3 in Portland, Ore. where they faceoff with NCAA Division IA Portland State University.
 
The final nine games on the schedule will against current or former Great Northwest Athletic Conference foes.
 
For the second-straight year the football team will be on the road for its first two contests.  After travelling to Portland, the Wildcats will head back to Oregon to take on Western Oregon in their first GNAC game of the season.
 
The first home game come son Sept 19 against Azusa Pacific University at 1 p.m.  The following Saturday CWU will play Dixie State in its only other non-conference matchup of the season.  Dixie State left the GNAC following the 2015 season and is now a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
 
With the subtraction of Dixie State and South Dakota School of Mines from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, all eight games against GNAC schools will be count in the conference standings in 2016.
 
Homecoming falls on Oct. 15 against Western Oregon after traveling to Simon Fraser and Humboldt State.
 
The Wildcats will wrap up its 2016 regular season schedule with a matchup against defending GNAC champions Humboldt State, scheduled for Noon.
