ELLENSBURG, Wash. (May 7) – The Central Washington University baseball team was eliminated from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference tournament hunt by Western Oregon University, after the Wolves took game one of the series finale doubleheader.
Central finishes the regular season with a record of 27-23, while the Wildcats' conference mark sits at 23-17.
"We needed to win both today and we didn't get it done," CWU Head Coach
Desi Storey said. "It's unfortunate. We came into this weekend being able to control our own destiny and we couldn't get the job done."
The Wildcats scored first in game one on a single by
Reid Martinez. The single brought home
Ryan Atkinson.
A pair of two-run innings gave the Wolves a 4-1 lead. They expanded their lead in both the seventh and eighth innings, scoring a run in each.
Central got a run back in the eighth, on a single by
Dylan Freyre, but the Wildcats fell 2-6.
The Wildcats picked up a victory in the season finale, 6-5. Trailing 2-0 after four, the Wildcats recorded a five run fifth inning.

Darren Honeysett later singled home
Kyle Stahl and Dailey.
Jake Levin then blasted a two-run shot, putting Central up 5-2.
A three-run inning by Western Oregon levelled the score, 5-5.
Christopher Dalto singled through the left side in the top of the seventh inning, scoring Dailey, and taking a 6-5 lead.
Dailey picked up first win of the season. He went 1.1 innings of perfect relief.
CJ Gettman got his first start of the season and went four innings of two-run ball.
Stahl and Dailey each recorded a pair of hits.
"I'm proud of our guys for the work they put in this season," Storey finished. "They worked hard and fought all season long. It's time to start looking ahead to next year."
