Ellensburg, Wash. (Sept. 7) – The Central Washington University volleyball team heads to San Diego, California for the Division II West Region Volleyball Showcase, hosted by UC San Diego.  The Wildcats will be looking for redemption after a rough weekend at the Flyer Festival.

"We felt that last week gave us a lot of information to help us prepare for region and conference play," CWU Head Coach Mario Andaya said.  "We've been working hard from day one, but we are now concentrating on smaller things that will help us be more productive offensively.  I like our defensive progress, but we need to score more points.  We'll see how that plays out this week."

Central opens the tournament against Point Loma on Thursday, before taking on both BYU-Hawaii and Cal Poly Pomona on Friday.  The Wildcats close the tournament against UC San Diego on Saturday.

"The crossover has been a great opportunity for teams to establish some early ground for a regional berth," Andaya added.  "We're hoping to not only improve on our play from last week, but to see how we stack up in the West. "

Point Loma is 1-3 on the season after the Seaside Invitational.  The Sea Lions recorded their only victory against Saginaw Valley in a 3-1 contest.
