Wildcats Head On the Road For GNAC Fixtures

ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Oct. 11) – The Central Washington University women's soccer team returns to action on Thursday (Oct. 12) and Saturday (Oct. 14) for a pair of Great Northwest Athletic Conference matches.  The Wildcats travel to Seattle Pacific on Thursday, before heading to Simon Fraser on Saturday.

"Seattle Pacific is always a big challenge for us," CWU Head Coach Michael Farrand said.  "Arby has done a great job getting his team prepared and it shows in the results."
 
"Simon Fraser got the better of us last time out," Farrand added.  Annie has done a great job and turned SFU around.  We've gone up there twice and dropped points twice, it's going to be a battle."
 
SCOUTING SEATTLE PACIFIC
The Falcons are 6-5-0 on the season, including a 4-3-0 record in GNAC play.  Last week they lost both matches by 1-0 scores to Northwest Nazarene and Western Washington.
 
Kasey Reeve (6G-1A-13P) leads the Falcons in points (13) and goals (6), while Julia DeVere (4G-1A-9P) is close behind.  The Falcons have scored 17 goals on 135 shots.
 
Molly Stinson has handled 966 of the 1011 minutes in goal for Seattle Pacific on the season.  She has made 48 saves and allowed just 13 goals.  As a whole, the Falcons have only allowed 14 goals on the year.


SCOUTING SIMON FRASER
Simon Fraser is 5-6-0 with a 1-4-0 record in GNAC matches.  They are 2-3-0 at the confines of Terry Fox Field.
 
Last week Simon Fraser lost both its matches, falling 4-1 to Billings and 3-0 to Concordia.
 
Emma Pringle (11G-1A-23P) leads Simon Fraser's offense in goals (11) and points (23).  Jenna Baxter (1G-8A-10P) has picked up a team high eight assists.  Simon Fraser has allowed scored 21 goals from eight different goal scorers.
 
Priya Sandhu has accumulated 981 minutes in goal, allowing 21 goals and making 46 saves.  Sandhu has also recorded two clean sheets.
 
CHASING HISTORY
Senior Mackenzie Nolte is now three goals away from the career record and needs just four points for the career high in total points.  She also needs just one game-winning goal to claim the most game-winners in CWU history.
  
LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats fell in both matches last week in a 3-0 loss to Northwest Nazarene and a 2-0 loss in Western Oregon.

RECENT HISTORY
Central finished 2016 1-0-1 against Seattle Pacific in the regular season, before falling to the Falcons 2-0 in the GNAC playoffs.  The Wildcats then defeated SPU 2-1 in the NCAA Division II Regional.
 
The Wildcats played SFU just once in 2016, falling 2-0 in Burnaby.  In 2015, Central finished 1-1-0 against SFU by grabbing a 5-2 win at home after falling 0-1 on the road.
