No. 10 Wildcats Head to Oregon to Face Wolves

The Central Washington University football team comes into this week ranked 10th in the nation, and carries a perfect 6-0 record into this Saturday's matchup with Western Oregon.
 
The Wildcats are also 4-0 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference as they start the back-half of conference play, holding a one game GNAC lead on Humboldt State.

ABOUT THE WILDCATS
The Wildcats are coming of a statement 55-27 victory over Humboldt State, to take sole possession of first place in the GNAC.
 
Central used a balanced offensive attack to produce 546 yards of total offense, 284 on the ground and 262 in through the air.
 
Defensively, CWU held the potent HSU offense to just 326 yards and sacked the Lumberjacks four times, more than twice the amount HSU had given up all season.
 
HENNESSEY AND HAYNES EARN GNAC POTW SELECTIONS
Junior quarterback Reilly Hennessey and senior linebacker Kevin Haynes earned Great Northwest Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, for their contributions to the Wildcats 55-27 win last week.
 
Hennessey finished with 334 yards of total offense in the Wildcats' 55-27 win over Humboldt State. Hennessey completed 21 of 30 passes for 216 yards and five touchdowns and was also the team's top rusher, carrying 13 times for 118 yards.
 
Haynes finished the game with a season-high 14 tackles, a tackle for loss and a half-sack.  He keyed the defense that limited HSU to its worst output of the season.
 
 
FIRING ON ALL CYLINDERS
The Wildcats are one of just four NCAA Division II programs to be ranked in the top 25 in both total offense and defense.  The defense is ranked 12 nationally in terms of total defense, including; 3rd in sacks, 7th in third down conversion defense, 8th in tackles for loss, and 13th in interceptions.
 
The offense ranks 19th nationally and cracks the top 25 in first downs (7th), 3rd down conversion percentage (7th), rushing offense (9th), sacks allowed (7th), scoring offense (7th), tackles for loss allowed (5th), and time of possession (9th).
 
 
SELF PROPELLED
Senior tight end Kyle Self is having a standout season, as he is tied for the national lead for touchdowns by a tight end with six on the season.  Self, who had seven touchdowns in his career coming into this season, has caught 17 passes for 205 yards with an average of 12.06 yards per completion.  The Vaughn, Wash. native has caught at least one touchdown pass in each of the last three games.
 
ABOUT THE WOLVES
Behind a school-record tying six touchdown passes by senior quarterback Nick Duckworth, Western Oregon University defeated Simon Fraser University, 82-21 last Saturday in Canada

Duckworth tossed five of his six touchdowns in the first half alone as Western Oregon (2-4, 1-3 GNAC) generated a 44-14 lead at the break.
 
Last week's victory snapped a two-game skid for the Wolves who fell to Azusa Pacific (48-17), and Humboldt State (49-48) in its previous two matchups.
 
Paul Revis is the Wolves most dangerous weapon, ranking 17th in the nation in all-purpose yards, and ranks sixth in receiving yards per game with 121.7.  Revis' 10.7 receptions per game leads the nation, with the next closest player earning 9.8 receptions per game.
 
 
SESRIES HISTORY
The Wildcats are 36-20 all-time against Western Oregon and are 22-4 in the last 26 meetings dating back to 2002.  However, each of the four losses since 2002 have come on the road in Monmouth, Ore.
 
Central Washington took game one of this seasons series 30-23 in Bothell, Wash., in a game where the Wildcat defense put a strangle hold on the WOU offense.  Western Oregon recovered a 79-yard touchdown and completed a 57-yard touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter to make things interesting.
