ELLENSBURG, Wash. (Oct. 28) – KK Wallace tallied twice as the Wildcats rolled to a 2-0 victory over Montana State University Billings on Senior Day.
The Wildcats finish the 2017 regular season with a 2-12-3 record, including a 1-9-2 mark in Great Northwest Athletic Conference matches. The Yellowjackets fall to 3-12-2 overall and 2-8-2 in GNAC play.
"We finished one well and I'm definitely happy with KK," CWU Head Coach
Michael Farrand said. "She had a great week at practice and had two good chances, her first goal was fantastic. I'm just happy for the girls. We've suffered through a tough year and we've done a lot of things right, but at times we haven't. We've had to fight through injuries and rotate different people in, we've had to fight all year. Billings has had some good results this year. To shut them out and score two goals, I'm just happy for the program."
Wallace found the score sheet in the 27
th minute.
Whitney Lowe sent a cross over the 18, where it was gathered by
Mackenzie Nolte. Nolte then sent a second effort in towards the middle of the box, but a Yellowjacket defender rebuffed her attempt with a ricochet. The ricochet careened to Wallace, who fired a one-timed shot low and beat Erinn Harder for her second goal of the season.
The chances were few and far between for the Yellowjackets in the first half, but the Wildcats managed eight shots in the opening 45 minutes. The teams went into halftime with a 1-0 score in favor of Central.
A quick burst of momentum from the Yellowjackets brewed a pair of chances, but they were stymied by
Emily Holt.
The Wildcats got their insurance marker in the 56
th minute. Lowe played a ball low across the top of the six for Wallace, where she was able to touch it past Lily Delgadillo.
Holt kept her clean sheet intact later in the 56
th minute when she stonewalled Amanda Grimshaw.
The Wildcats limited the Yellowjackets to just six shots, three on goal, while they fired off 14 shots. Holt finished with three saves.
