ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The Central Washington University men's basketball team defeated Walla Walla University 100-64 Saturday evening in Nicholson Pavilion to improve to 3-2 on the season.
Five different Wildcats scored in double-figures for the Wildcats who shot a red-hot 61.4-percent from the field despite making just 8 of 24 shots from long range. The Wildcats ate up the middle of the court offensively, scoring 48 points in the paint, 36 more than their counterparts.
Khalil Shabazz led the Wildcats in scoring with 16 points on 7 of 10 shooting, and added a team-high six assists. Central Washington had a total of five players who scored in double figures with
Drake Rademacher and
Sage Woodruff each added 14,
Fuquan Niles pitched in 10, and
Cameron Williams scored a career-high 11 on 5 of 7 shooting.
Niles also added a game high 12 rebounds to record his second double-double of the season.
The Wildcats held a 45-34 halftime lead that extended to 23 points six minutes into the second half. Central Washington went on a 14-0 run late in the half and led by as many as 40 points to cruise to the 36-point victory.
Walla Walla converted on just 38.5-percent of their shots, and turned the ball over 18 times which resulted in 18 points off turnovers for the Wildcats. Walla Walla forward Alijiah Robinson led all scorers with 20 points in 35 minutes of action.
Next up, the Wildcats begin Great Northwest Athletic Conference play when they host Saint Martin's University on Thursday, Nov. 30, followed by a Dec. 2 matchup with Seattle Pacific. Both games start at 7 p.m.
