Hasani Childs ran for a career-high 226 yards as the Wildcats shutout Simon Fraser University 51-0 to improve to 10-0 on the season and claimed at least a share of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference title.
Simon Fraser falls to 0-9, 0-7 in the GNAC.
Childs also scored four touchdowns in the game, three on rushes and one on a nine-yard pass in the second quarter. Coming into the contest, Childs had one career touchdown and 131 rushing yards.
Childs set the pace for the Wildcats, scoring all three of the first quarter touchdowns for the Wildcats who found the end zone on each of their first five possessions. The Wildcats built a 35-0 halftime lead thanks to four scores by Childs and a 10-yard touchdown pass from
Reilly Hennessey to
JoJo Hillel.
Backup quarterback
Tommy Hays ran in a pair of scored in the third quarter, followed by a self-induced safety by Simon Fraser to finish at the final 51-0 mark.
Hennessey finished 10 of 15 for 131 yards and two touchdown passes, and
Tommy Hays was 3 of 8 for 33 yards, but gained 72 yards on the ground with a long of 25.
Hillel led all receivers with 56 receiving yards on three catches, followed closely by
Christian Stafford who had four receptions for 52 yards.
As a team, the Wildcats put up 506 yards of total offense with a 6.9 yards per play average.
The CWU defense smothered Simon Fraser, allowing just 30 yards of offense including negative 31 rushing yards. The CWU rush defense numbers were aided by seven CWU sacks led by
James Fakkema with 1.5 sacks in the game.

Chaz McKenzie had a standout game for the Wildcats, earning his first interception of his career, and returned a blocked punt down to the SFU four-yard line in the third quarter.
The Wildcats will next take on Humboldt State next Saturday, Nov. 11 in Arcata, Calif at 1 p.m. The game will be featured on ESPN3 and with a win the Wildcats will take home sole possession of the GNAC Title.
