SEATTLE, Wash. (Nov. 4) – Sadie Mensing led the Wildcats' offense with 13 points, but the Central Washington University women's basketball fell in an exhibition 104-57 to Division I Seattle University.
The Wildcats went up 13-9 with 5:57 left in the first quarter on a jumper by Mensing. The Redhawks battled back to claim the lead with 3:17 left in the first stanza and held their lead for the game. Seattle led 27-20 after the first 10 minutes.
"It was a challenge for us in ways that we haven't been able to challenge ourselves yet," CWU Head coach
Randi Richardson-Thornley said. "It gave us an opportunity to truly see where we need to focus our attention during practice and training this next week in preparing for the regular season."
At half, the Redhawks lead had grown to 54-28. Mensing recorded seven points, one rebound, and a steal in the first half.
Alexis Pana recorded five points and three assists.
The second half was more of the same, as the Redhawks outscored the Wildcats 50-29.
Taylor Shaw led the scoring in the second half, tallying eight points and one assist. She finished with 10 points.
The Wildcats take on Cal State Los Angeles on Friday (Nov. 10) in Ellensburg at 2:30 p.m.
