SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (Dec. 14) – Sadie Mensing led the Central Washington University women's basketball team feel to Dominican University (CA) 90-79.
The Wildcats fall to 5-5 overall, while the Penguins improve to 9-2.
Mensing shot 50 percent from the floor, added two rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Jasmin Edwards finished with 13 points, while
Alexis Pana rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Wildcats with 10 points.
Trailing 13-10 in the first quarter, Taylor Show knocked down a three to bring the score level with just 1:40 left in the period. The Penguins reinstated their lead, however, closing the first stanza with a 21-17 advantage.
A layup from Mensing brought the game even again, 27-27, preceding a three from Edwards and a bucket from
Alexis Pana for a 32-27 lead. The Wildcats fought off the Penguins efforts, taking a 40-38 lead heading into the third quarter.
A turnaround jumper from
Taylor Baird gave the Wildcats a 47-42 lead early in the third quarter, but a 13-0 run from Dominican gave the Penguins a 56-47 lead headed into the fourth quarter.
The Wildcats battled throughout the final stanza, but the Penguins prevented them from chipping the deficit away.
Central is back in action on Tuesday (Dec. 19) at home against Western Oregon. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
