CWU Track and Field Wraps Up Jackson’s Open

NAMPA, Idaho- The Central Washington University track and field team wrapped up competition at the Boise State Jackson's Open Saturday afternoon at the Jackson's Indoor Track Facility. The Wildcats recorded 16 top-five performances across 14 events.

Wrapping Up the Meet

Senior Ali Anderson captured the 400-meter event title after recording a time of 56.20 seconds. She also placed second in the 200-meter with a time of 25.29 seconds.
Junior Mariyah Vongsaveng competed for the first time this season in the 60-meter hurdles and 200-meter dash. She placed second in both events after recording times of 8.77 and 26.12 seconds, respectively. Each of these marks were a provisional qualifiers for the NCAA tournament later in the year.
Anderson teamed up with Katie Collins, HarLee Ortega, and Erykah Weems to earn first in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:56.96.
HarLee Ortega finished third in the triple jump with a provisional qualifying mark of 38 feet, 8.75 inches. She followed up this performances with a fifth-place in the 60-meter hurdles (9.27 seconds).
Aiyana Homer placed first in the weight throw (53 feet, 3 inches) and fourth in the shot put (39 feet, 10.75 inches).
Halle Irvine led the women's squad in the pole vault after clearing a height of 11 feet, 1.75 inches.
Shadia Meadows placed second in the high jump after jumping five feet, three inches.
Senior Armando Tafoya led the men's squad with a pair of second-place finishes in the weight throw (54 feet, 6.50 inches) and shot put (49 feet, 5.50 inches).
Kodiak Landis earned second in the pole vault after clearing 15 feet, 7 inches.
Trevaughn Scott finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.76 seconds) and 800-meter (1:55.77).
