Volleyball in Italy: Day 5 Recap

Team PGS

Women's Volleyball | 3/23/2017 5:31:00 PM

Foreword: The Wildcats departed Florence early in the morning, en route to the Como area.  The Wildcats stopped for lunch at a small farm, where the team enjoyed fresh ham, salami, prosciutto, among other things.  They then took on PGS Pallavolo Segona for their final match of the tour. Each day we hope to bring our readers a taste of what the team is experiencing in Italy through the eyes of a player.  Today's player is freshman middle Kassidy Malcolm.

The food was really amazing.  I've had salami before, but not like that.  It was fresh. We got to try a lot of local meats and cheese, it was incredible.  We had multiple courses over lunch, including ravioli.  I've had ravioli before, but it's much different in Italy.

7161The view from the balcony was really pretty.  It was a bit cloudy so it was kind of hard to see, but it was still super cool to see.  The Italian countryside was really nice to see.  When I think of Italy, I don't think of the countryside, I think of the ancient ruins and medieval cities, so seeing the older houses and farms out there was really cool to see.

It was a really great experience for all of us tonight playing Segona.  It's almost once and a life-time experience to play a team from that level, with that much experience.  It was really good for us to see that competition and compete with them.   Svetlana [Safronova] was a great player and she was super nice off the court.  It was really great to have a chance to talk with her and the other players after the match, they were all super nice.  It was a really great experience.
