Central Washington's offense continued its success in game two. The Wildcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and added two more runs in the second.
"I'm really proud of how we bounced back in game two," CWU Head Coach
Desi Storey said. "Game one isn't how we want to play. Our bats clicked all day, but pitching struggled in game one. But we bounced back and our bats kept going."
After Saint Martin's scratched a run across in the bottom of the second, a sacrifice fly by
Kyle Stahl gave Central a 6-1 edge.
A double by
Conor Plaisance in the fourth gave Central a 7-1 lead and
James Smith III's sac fly gave the Wildcats an 8-1 lead.
A two-run homerun by Adam Eskil cut the Wildcats lead to 8-3.
The Wildcats tacked on four more in the sixth inning for a 12-3 lead.
Nine different Wildcats drove in a run in the victory.
Mackenzie Gaul notched his fifth win of the season after hurling four innings of one run ball.
"Mack battled all day," Storey noted. "Yeah, he got into some tough spots, but he kept fighting and did a really good job limiting the damage."
The Wildcats are back in action tomorrow (Apr. 15) in another doubleheader with Saint Martin's University. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the CWU Baseball Field. Live stats and video are available at wildcatsports.com.
