BILLINGS, Montana – the Central Washington University softball team completed its four-game sweep of Montana State Billings, defeating the Yellowjackets 10-1 and 5-3 to improve to 31-7 on the season and 18-2 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
Freshman
Julia Reuble -- who hit two homeruns and drove in seven runs yesterday -- added two more homeruns to her weekend, totaling four in the series. Reuble finished the day 3 for 5 with two homeruns and four RBIs, giving her a total of 11 RBIs in four games.
10-1 Game 1 Victory over MSUB
Central Washington jumped all over the Yellowjackets, scoring at least one run in in every innings with the exception of the fourth.
Kiana Wood improved to 16-1, hurling five innings, allowing six hits and one run.
Offensively CWU outhit the Yellowjackets 10-8 with
Celine Fowler and
Savannah Egbert each going 2 for 4 in the game, with one and two RBIs, respectively.
Jacie McDaniels hit her 11
th homerun of the season and
Julia Reuble went 1 for 2 with three RBI on a three-run homerun in the fifth,, her third of the series.
5-3 Game 2 Victory over MSUB
Reuble added to her amazing weekend with a solo homerun in game two, to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.
MSUB took a brief 2-1 lead, before the Wildcats added three more in the 4
th inning on a pair of singles by McDaniels and
Taelor Griffin, and a bases loaded walk by Molly Null that scored
Hannah Spero.
Taylor Williams picks up the victory in the contest throwing four innings of two-run softball, inducing nine ground ball outs in the process to improve to 2-1 on the season.
Kiana Wood pitched the final three innings in relief to record her fourth save of the season, giving up just one run over three innings.
The Wildcats were outhit 13-7 in game two, with Reuble leading the way going 2 for 3.
Next up, CWU will play a pair of two game sets with Saint Martin's in a home and home affair starting Saturday, Apr. 22 in Lacey, Wash.
