ELLENSBURG, Wash.- The Central Washington University women's rugby team will travel to Glendale, Colorado to compete at the 2017 USA Rugby 7s College National Championship beginning his Saturday, May 20.
"We are very proud to be representing Central Washington on the National 7s stage, as one of the top 12 teams in the country," CWU head coach
Mel Denham said. "We have a strong pool, and know that 7s is an exciting game because anything can happen! We've been working on a game plan that suits our strengths, and we will look to manage each match, staying focused and discipline over the 14 minutes.
The tournament will follow a pool play format, leaving the Wildcats with three opening-round matches at Infinity Park. Joining the Wildcats in Pool B will be Life University, Texas A&M University and the University of Michigan.
CWU earned their chance to compete at Nationals by winning a qualifier tournament at OSU last month. The Wildcats are scheduled to play three fixtures on Saturday, beginning with a 10:20 a.m. match against Texas A&M, followed by a fixture against the University of Michigan at 2:20 p.m. Pool play concludes Saturday evening with a match against Life University at 6:20 p.m.
Central Washington will be placed into the championship bracket after the conclusion of their three matches based on their respected record. Records from the opening-round will dictate times and locations for the ensuing rounds. Live streaming of the event can be found

"The women have worked hard to earn this appearance, which is a continued step towards the program's overarching goal of competing for National Championships in both 15s and 7s," Denham explained.
