ELLENSBURG, Wash. –Central Washington University had 63 student-athletes receive Division 2 Athletics Director's Association (D2ADA) Academic Achievement Awards during the 2016-17 season.
The Academic Achievement Awards is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of students-athletes at the NCAA Division II level, and are nominated by the athletics directors who are dues paying member.
"The recipients of this award exemplify our focus and commitment to academic excellence at Central Washington University. It is great to see the Division 2 Athletic Director's Association recognize the hard work of these student-athletes in the classroom and in competition," said Director of Athletics Dennis Francois. "Our University's investment in the Wildcat Academic Success Center continues to be highly beneficial to our student-athletes and their academic success, but also our individual sport programs from a recruitment and retention perspective."
Student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5, have attended a minimum of two years of college level work, and been an active member of an intercollegiate in the last academic year.
The total of 63 CWU student-athletes earning this award is the most in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, and third-most in the West Region.
