ELLENSBURG, Wash.- Despite three Wildcats recording double-digit kills, the Central Washington University women's volleyball team dropped a 25-14, 25-12, 25-27, 24-26, 9-15 decision to Dixie State University, Friday, at Nicholson Pavilion.

Central Washington (4-3) out hit Dixie State (2-4) .254 to .179 for the match. The Wildcats also held a 68-60 advantage in kills and a 10-9 edge in blocks. The Trailblazers led the Wildcats in service aces (7 to 4) and digs (75 to 71).

Junior
Shelby Mauritson finished with double-digit kills (17) for the sixth time this season with a .295 hitting percentage and added 13 digs.

Senior middle blocker
Sabrina Wheelhouse recorded a season-high 11 kills on .381 hitting. The Eugene, Ore. native also posted a team-high six blocks.

Junior outside hitter
Maggie McTaggart recorded a career-high 14 digs to compliment her 13 kills, three blocks and one ace.

Sophomore setter
Gabrielle Aihara finished with a season-high 34 assists to go with seven digs and two aces.

Dixie State's Doonan Hannah was the only Trailblazer to finish in double figures after registering a career-high 16 kills on .371 hitting. Doonan also contributed 14 digs, four aces and two blocks for Dixie State. Junior libero Sid Brandon accounted for a season-high 27 digs, adding three aces.

The Wildcats drop to 4-3 on the season and 1-2 at the West Region Showcase.

Central Washington will face the University of California, San Diego tomorrow (Sept. 9) at 8 p.m. in Nicholson Pavilion.
