Clan Clap Wildcats in Straight Sets

Burnaby, B.C. –Things went south for the Central Washington University volleyball team north of the boarder against Simon Fraser. The Clanclapped the Wildcats 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 30-28) on Saturday.

"Really not anything consistent to comment about," head coach Mario Andaya said. "We have to get back on track somehow so that's the plan when we get back."

A slow start hindered the Wildcats, while the Clan took advantage of being on their home court. The Clan hustled their way to an 8-3 when Andaya called his first timeout. The Clan's offense continued to flow smoothly as they picked up the set 25-14

The Wildcats shook the cobwebs in the second set. The two teams traded points back and forth to a 10-10 tie. The Clan got a short burst of consistent offense, scoring three straight points. The Wildcats used another timeout as they trailed 13-10. The Clan continued to roll, taking the second set 25-19.

The Wildcats jumped out to an early 7-2 lead to open the third set. The Clan ripped off an impressive 12-7 run, knotting the game at 14. The Clan was pesky down the stretch, tying the set five separate times while facing set point. After a few intense rallies, the Clan completed the sweep 30-28.

The Wildcats return to Nicholson Pavilion when they host Concordia (Ore) on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
