Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Falcons Down Wildcats, 3-0

SEATTLE, Wash. (Oct. 23) – The Central Washington University women's soccer team (4-8-4, 4-5-2) fell 3-0 to Seattle Pacific University (12-4-0, 8-3-0), 3-0, in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match.

"We didn't come ready to play today," CWU Head Coach Michael Farrand said after.  "We gave up goal early, gave up a goal late in the first half, and gave one up early in the second.  Those are things we haven't done.  We've given up a lot of soft goals to SPU.  I thought Emily Russell has continued to grow her game out and Makinzie Packwood on the top had a great game, she ran forever.  We need to be better, for each other.  There's a chance to finish out the conference season at a .500 record or better and that's what we have to go for at Western Oregon."

Madison Bradley got the game's first scoring chance, sending a shot over the crossbar from just outside the 18.

Sophia Chilczuk gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead in just the fifth minute. Julia Devere found Chilczuk, who sashayed past the defense and fired goalward.

A 12th minute chance for the Falcons nearly gave them a 2-0 lead, but Kasey Reeve's header went wide.

Lexsi Manning got the Wildcats' second chance at goal, sending a shot wide left in the 30th minute.

The Falcons put up a brace in the 40th minute.  Devere sent an aerial through ball over the top of the defense, where Makena Ritz collected and fired a shot that caromed off the goalkeeper and trickled over the goal line.

The Wildcats were awarded a corner in the 42nd minute.  Jordan Engman's corner found the head of Emily Minogue, but her header went wide.

Engman fired a shot on goal in the waning seconds of the first half, but Riley Travis smothered the shot to preserve the Falcons' 2-0 lead.

After striking early in the first half, the Falcons found a second insurance maker 93 seconds into the second half.  Claire Neder's initial shot was parried aside, but the rebound was forced home by Kasey Reeve.

Bradley nearly missed her fifth goal of the season in the 53rd minute, sending a shot off the crossbar.

Engman forced Travis to make another stop in the 65th minute, before nearly putting Central on the board in the 69th minute with a shot just left of the frame.

A corner kick from Manning in the 77th minute led to a shot on goal from Makinzie Packwood, but again Travis made the stop to preserve her clean sheet.

The Wildcats are back on the road Thursday (Oct.25) for a GNAC match against Western Oregon. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
