QUOTABLE
"We are inching ourselves towards another GNAC title," CWU Head Coach Ian Shoemaker said.  "We know it's going to be a battle against Humboldt.  It's always a tough trip down to the Redwood Bowl.  There have been some great games in the history of our two programs down in Arcata and we wouldn't expect anything else on Saturday."

SCOUTING HUMBOLDT STATE
The Lumberjacks enter the week with a 1-6 overall record and a 1-4 mark in GNAC play.

Last week, Humboldt State was dispatched by Western Oregon, 45-24.  Joey Sweeney threw for 284 yards on 23 completions.  He picked up two touchdowns through the air, but also threw a pair of picks.  The defensive line broke through for four sacks.  Tyree Marzetta rushed for 140 yards, and a touchdown, on 14 carries.

The Lumberjacks are averaging just 15.71 points per game on a total offensive yards average of 299.6.  Their nearly 300 yards of offense per game breaks down into 123.6 rushing yards and 176 passing yards per game.

Tyree Marzetta leads the rushing attack for the Lumberjacks.  He has compiled 498 yards on 73 carries. He is averaging 71.14 yards per game, but has only rushed for one touchdown.  Humboldt State has rushed for 865 yards, 57.5 percent of which has come from Marzetta.

The Lumberjacks' aerial assault has been led by a pair of signal callers, Joey Sweeney and Andrew Tingstad.  They have posted nearly identical efficiency ratings of 114.79 and 114.03, respectively.

Sweeney has primarily been the go-to guy for the 'Jacks, completing 65 passes, in 116 attempts, for 734 yards and five touchdowns.  Tingstad has completed 34 passes, in 64 attempts, for 445 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Kaleo Garrigan has been the favorite target amongst Humboldt receivers, hauling in 18 passes for 315 yards.  Three of those receptions ended in a touchdown.

Defensively, the Lumberjacks are allowing an average of 483.7 yards per game, 299.143 through the air and 184.3 on the ground.

Demetrick Watts leads the Lumberjacks' defense in tackles, reeling in 55 tackles through seven games.  Moses Finau is close behind with 50.  Finau holds the clubhouse lead in tackles for loss, making seven tackles behind the line of scrimmage for a loss of 15 yards.

Curtis Williams and Isaiah Sires-Wils have harassed opposing quarterbacks, compiling two and a half sacks each for a combined 44 yards lost.  As a unit, the Lumberjacks have brought down the opposing quarterback 14 times.

Evan Camarena has been a ball hawk in the Lumberjacks' secondary, picking off four passes thus far in 2018.  Camarena has half of his squad's eight interceptions on the year.

LAST TIME OUT
The Wildcats steamrolled Simon Fraser, 60-19, in a record-setting affair.

Quinton Lewis hauled in five passes for, 112 yards, and a pair of touchdowns.  Tony Archie reeled in three catches, for 76 yards, and one touchdown.  Michael Roots added one catch, a 52-yard touchdown reception, to his day as well.

Donte Hamilton led the Wildcat defense with seven tackles (5S+2A=7T).  He also picked off a pass and returned it for 64 yards.  Elisha Pa'aga recorded six tackles and two and a half sacks.  The sacks combined for a loss of 11 yards.  Austin Crawford recorded two sacks for a loss of 12 yards.  Tevin Gray, DeMoor, and Kai Gamble each recorded one sack.  Billy Greer, Max Nauer, and Isaiah Carbajal each recorded a half-sack.  Central's defense combined for nine total sacks on the evening.  The Wildcats plowed through Simon Fraser's offensive line, seemingly at will, to hold SFU to -45 rushing yards.  Crawford and Lucas Peterson each forced a fumble, while Hamilton recovered one.   Cody O'Connell also picked off a pass from Richardson.

REIGNING GNAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Hennessey completed 17 of 25 passes for 351 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Wildcats to a 60-19 victory over Simon Fraser. Hennessey threw touchdown passes to three different receivers.

RECORD-SETTING NIGHT
The Wildcats totaled a record 719 yards of total offense against Simon Fraser, surpassing the previous mark of 696 set against Fort Lewis on August 30, 2002.  The 719 yards is not only a CWU record, but also a new GNAC record.  Central averaged 9.2 yards per play, another new CWU record, and amassed 868 all-purpose yards for yet another CWU record.

The 719 yards of offense was made possible by the men in the trenches, the offensive line, barreling through the Simon Fraser defense to open running lanes and keeping hungry defenders away from their signal caller.

The 719 yards eclipsed the previous GNAC record of 707 yards set by Humboldt State against Augustana (S.D.) in 2015. The Wildcats and Clan combined for a total of 1,144 yards of total offense. In the process, Central Washington set school records with 9.2 yards per game and 868 all-purpose yards.

KICKERS BEWARE
Chase DeMoor continues to shatter the single-season blocked kicks record, adding another block to his tally for seven on the season.  DeMoor is now one blocked kick away from tying the CWU career blocked kick record, blocking all six kicks thus far in one season.  He leads all NCAA divisions in blocked kicks.

GNAC STANDINGS UPDATE
A win over Humboldt State will ensure Central Washington at least a share of the 2018 GNAC title.

The Wildcats sit atop the GNAC standings with a 6-0 conference record.  Azusa Pacific is in second with a 4-1 record.  Central and APU have one more meeting left on the schedule, a 1:00 p.m. kick-off in Ellensburg on November 10.
