QUOTABLE
"Our goal has been and will continue to be to improve every week," CWU Head Coach
Brandon Rinta said. "This week is another opportunity to do that. It will be nice to be able to get back and play on our home court after being on the road for four straight games."
SCOUTING EVERGREEN STATE
The Geoducks are 4-2 on the season, picking up a pair of wins last week over California Maritime and Portland Bible.
Evergreen handily took down Portland Bible, 93-68, in their last outing. The Geoducks took a 13-point into the locker room at halftime. Malik Redmond led Evergreen State in scoring, tallying 17 points in 17 minutes. Elijah Fuller recorded 16 points in 22 minutes.
Prior to their contest against Portland Bible, the Geoducks snuck out an 86-85 win over California Maritime. Evergreen found themselves up by a slim 43-39 margin at halftime and a spirited offensive from Cal-Maritime in the second half saw momentum swing relentlessly from bench to bench. With just 2.2 seconds left in regulation, Fuller sank a fall-away 18-footer from the corner to lift the Geoducks over the Keelhaulers.
Ryan Quigley leads the Geoducks' offense, averaging 16.5 points per game, while Fuller averages 13.3. Redmond (11.0) and Jared Roffler (10.8) also average double digits in points. As a unit, Evergreen State averages 92.25 points per game and have been allowing 96.25.
Roffler leads his squad in rebounding, pulling in 8.3 rebounds per game. Quigley hauls in seven boards a game, good enough for second on the Geoducks. Evergreen State has out rebounded opponents, 45.3 to 37.3.
It is the first meeting between Central Washington and Evergreen State since they played a pair of games during the 1998 season. The Crimson and Black won both games in '98, taking a 64-60 victory in Ellensburg, before capturing a 74-58 win in Olympia.
SCOUTING CORBAN UNIVERSITY
The Warriors are 7-1 in 2018 and have won five of their last six games. Most recently, Corban took down Lewis & Clark College, 90-77. The only loss on the season for the Warriors came against NAIA No. 22 Carroll College.
Coran has score 90 or more points in all but two of their games this season. Like the Geoducks, the Warriors hosted Cal State Maritime and captured an 81-72 win over the Keelhaulers.
Joel Johnson and Beau Roggenbach are the only Warriors to average double digit scoring. Johnson is the clubhouse leader, averaging 15.3 points per game. Roggenbach has averaged 13.6 points per game and hauls in a team-high 10.6 rebounds per game. The Warriors are averaging 89.9 points per game and allowing just 71.6 points.
