Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Wallops George Fox, 118-70

Ellensburg, Wash. –The Central Washington men's basketball team hosted George Fox in an exhibition game on Saturday. The Wildcats walloped the Bruins 118-70 inside Nicholson Pavilion.

"I was pretty impressed with how our guys came out and competed," head coach Brandon Rinta said. "I loved the energy they played with, the ball movement, and it always makes it easier when you knock down shots and we shot it well tonight."

The Wildcats scored early and often in the first half against the Bruins. Things got rolling when a steal from Malcolm Cola turned into a layup from Malik Montoya. Jeryn Lucas hit a three-pointer, followed by a pair of free-throws from Jackson Price. After nearly a minute and a half without a bucket, price drained a three-pointer, giving the Wildcats an 11-2 lead heading towards the first media timeout.

The aggressiveness of the Wildcats helped them get into the bonus with a little more than seven minutes remaining in the first half. They'd shoot 17-for-20 from the free-throw line in the first half. The Wildcat offense was deadly from beyond the three-point arc. They went seven-for-12 from deep, led by Price who knocked down all three of his attempts. He'd finish the night with 19 points, going five-for-six from three-point range, while dishing out seven assists.

"Credit to my teammates for getting the ball to me when I was open," Price said. "I was lucky enough to have the shots fall. As a team, we weren't missing which was nice. It stems from moving the ball, getting out here in front of the home crowd and playing with a lot of energy."

With 12:11 remaining in the second half, Zellie Hudson hit a layup that sparked nice offensive flow for the Wildcats. Matt Poquette hit a layup a minute later, followed by a three-pointer from Lewis Pope. Another layup from Poquette pushed the Wildcat lead to 37 points with 10:10 seconds remaining in the game.

The Wildcats received outstanding contributions from their bench. They outscored the Bruin bench 61-15. Nygil Carr led the second unite with 15 points, going five-for-six from the field including a pair of three-pointers. Ha added five rebounds to cap off a strong night.

"The next few weekends are going to be big for us," Rinta said. "We're going to be heading on the road and playing some really good teams. We're going to have to improve quickly, but I think our guys are in the right frame of mind. They're putting a lot of effort into playing together, playing for each other and we're continuing to improve defensively."

The Wildcats head to San Bernardino, California for a game against Cal State Monterey Bay at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, November 9
