Landis Named GNAC Field Athlete of the Week
Senior Kodiak Landis earned conference recognition this week after he outlasted the Division I competition to win the heptathlon at the UW Invitational. His score of 5,407 points is an NCAA Championships automatic qualifier, is the fourth best mark in Division II this season and improved his No. 3 mark on the GNAC All-Time List. Landis won four of the heptathlon's seven events, capturing the shot put (43-1), pole vault (15-5), long jump (22-7.25) and the 60 meters (7.05).

This marks the second time Landis has garnered GNAC recognition this season. He was named the field athlete of the week in December for his performance at the EWU Candy Cane Open.

Last Time Out
The Wildcats sent a small group of their top-tier athletes to Seattle, Wash. last weekend to compete at the UW Invitational. Competing primarily against Division 1 competition, Central Washington recorded seven top-ten finishes.

Leading the way was Landis' performance in the heptathlon. Maier also competed for CWU in the event, placing fifth with 4,799 points.

Justin Peterson placed fourth in the high jump after clearing a height 6 feet, 2.75.

Armando Tafoya claimed eighth in the weight throw with a throw measuring 58 feet, 5.25 inches.

Ali Anderson led the way in the 400-meter with a tenth-place finish after improving her NCAA provisional qualifying time of 56.08 seconds.

The women's 4x400-meter relay team comprised of Trinidad, Neria, Weems and Anderson earned ninth in 3:55.48.
