KANEOHE, Hawaii – the Central Washington University softball team split its double header with Hawaii Pacific after picking up a 5-4 win in game two. The Wildcats dropped game one 6-2 with a rain storm halting the game at five innings.
The wildcats are now 5-4 on the season while Hawaii Pacific now stands at 1-1 after its first two games of the season.
Celine Fowler went 3 for 7 with three runs batted in and a run scored.
Rachael Johnson,
Jacie McDaniels and
Savannah Egbert each totaled three hits on the day, with Egbert scoring two runs and picked up her fifth stolen base of the season.
The Wildcats outhit the Sharks 16-14 on the day, but the Sharks carried the power numbers with five extra-base hits to the Wildcats one.

The Wildcats looked to be in control early scoring a run in each of the first two innings with
Savannah Egbert crossing home on a wild pitch in the first, and
Celine Fowler driving home
Molly Nutt in the second.
Starting pitcher
Lexie Strasser held the Sharks down for four innings, allowing just three hits. However, the fifth inning was one to forget for the Wildcats, as Hawaii Pacific pushed across five runs to take a 6-2 lead in the fifth.
The game was called after five innings due to rain.
Game 2 | 5-4 Win
For the fourth straight game, CWU scored in the first inning on a two run double by
Julia Reuble plating Egbert and
Jacie McDaniels.
The Sharks scored once in the second to push the score to 2-1. Despite eight hits through five innings, the Wildcats were stuck at two runs. The CWU bats came alive again in the sixth inning, pushing across three runs on three hits highlighted by a two-run single by
Celine Fowler and a RBI single by McDaniels.
Taylor Williams got the start in game two and held the Sharks at Bay for the majority of the contest, until HPU rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull within one of the Wildcats.
Kayla Smith pitched the final 1.2 innings and earned her first save of the season holding the Sharks hitless in her time. Williams earned her second win of the season (2-0), going 5.1 innings allowing six hits while striking out two.
